Kula's "ecto" Version 1.0 Released

Kula (formerly Kung-Foo) has released version 1.0 of ecto (formerly Kung-Log) to provide Mac OS X users (adding Windows later) robust desktop software to publish entries to weblogs powered by TypePad, MovableType, Nucleus, Blogger, and more. A few bugs, such as the inability to customize the menu and temporarily incorrect feeds for sites with multiple blogs, are sure to be worked out in the coming days or weeks.

Political Blogging a Veteran at Age 15

Wired reports on on "MrLiberal," a widely read commentator on a popular left-wing political blog Daily Kos. So what if Stephen Yellin is only 15? He's an "emerging political operative who is making a difference in the political world despite being too young to drive to the polls, let alone cast a ballot."

The swine sending junk mail have changed their headlines to route around spam filters. Nonsensical sentences using real words are the latest. I've composed my first spam haiku from three of the thirteen headlines today:

Down Five

Lost five pounds this week, mostly because of a nasty cold that kept me from exercising all but last Sunday. At 189.9 lbs. I can almost button my pants. Unfortunately, I am also snacking on Nestlé semi-sweet chocolate chips as I type this. Obviously, I have more work to do.

Once again I can post entries by email. I'll keep simplify and refining
and simplifying this weblog until I actually contribute at least one
entry a day. Amazing. Real writers actually write. I spend most of my
time arranging my work spaces -- physical and virtual -- to prepare for
the act of writing. Writers write. Writers write. Right? Right.

Six in the Morning?

Six in the morning is an early hour to wake. Seven in the morning is an early hour to be at work. But six and seven are even earlier when other people who are supposed to be at work are not. Yawn.

Move to Improve

I have no idea what happened to the previous post, but the otherwise well-formatted table has a yard of space before it. I have no idea why, and I'm not going to bother working on it now. Just move on to something more productive. I'm watching the Packers and the Eagles play while typing away on my new 12-inch PowerBook. Move to improve. I won't get anywhere without making decisions, and I have spent entirely too much time debating myself.

Starting today, I'll be rating my personal performance. I've created ten metrics, called the Betterdex, to measure weekly:

1. Lose two pounds weekly
2. Work out five times weekly
3. Drink 3 liters of water daily
4. Eat healthy six days a week
5. Post to Betterness daily
6. Call, email or write one friend daily
7. Call one family member weekly
8. Visit campus weekly
9. Complete a work project weekly
10. Produce an iLife project weekly

There's more to come, but this is a start.
